Charles C. Steeber

Charles C. Steeber, 94, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

He was born December 16, 1922 in Republic, a son of Albert and Amelia Mast Steeber. Mr. Steeber proudly served his country with the United States Army Air Forces during WWII as a Crew Chief on B-17 bombers and a waist gunner on B-29 bombers.

He was a member of the American Legion #902, of Houston, the V.F.W. #191, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, of Canonsburg. Mr. Steeber was a 1941 graduate of Redstone High School and a 1951 graduate of Waynesburg College. He earned a Masters Degree in Mathematics.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a school teacher for Canon McMillan School District for 25 years teaching Math and Science. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, watching TV, and building furniture. Mr. Steeber was Presbyterian.

Surviving are wife of 67 years, Seena Mulhorn Steeber of Canonsburg, one son, Herman Charles Steeber and his wife Pauline "Polly", of McMurray, and one grandson, Charles Douglas Steeber.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Clarence, and four sisters, Marie, Elda, Mabel, and Dorothy.

At the request of the family, all services were private. Interment was in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements were entrusted to Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
