William Cass Obituary

William H. Cass, 65, of Cecil, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 in Canonsburg General Hospital.

He was born March 20, 1956 in Canonsburg, a son of the late Joseph and Lois Boyd Cass. 
William was a United States Army Veteran. When applying to be a paratrooper, he was selected to join the White House Secret Service and served under Carter, Reagan and Bush administration, specializing in electronic security. He was present at the hospital with President Ronald Reagan after his assassination attempt, and helped organize the press conferences. In 1991, he moved to the Federal Bureau of  Investigation and served for twenty years as a security specialist. He was one of the first responders for the plane crash on 9/11 in Shanksville, PA. In retirement, he served as the Fire Chief of Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department, and dedicated his life to building it to be one of the most technologically advanced companies in the area. He was dedicated to serving his community and spent much of his life helping others, especially those affected by tragedy.

Surviving are two sons; William J. (Jessica) Cass of Ft. Gordon, GA,  Jason (Linda) Cass of Carlisle, three daughters; Leah (William) Cass-King of McDonald,  Eliza (Ben) Cass of Cecil,  Lois Cass, of  California, sister; Denise(Carol) Cass, of Connecticut, and three grandchildren: Vanessa, Sophia and Kaylee. Also surviving are; Regina McUllough and Dana White.

Friends will be received Wednesday, September 15  from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
Services will be held at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services.Ltd., on Thursday, September 16 at 11:30 am with pastor Jim O'Brien officiating.
Interment with full Military Honors will be accord by VFW Post 191 and US Army in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
 Family is asking that all who will be attending visitation and service, please wear a mask.
Family suggest contributions to be made to  St. Jude's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
