Peter Steve Lucas

Peter Steve Lucas, 87, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, December 3, 2022 in his home. He was born December 9, 1934, in Canonsburg, son of Steve and Zafira Pananos Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a lifetime member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg. He was a lifetime member of AHEPA, Chapter 156, and the Pan-Rhodian Society. On August 24, 1958, he married his loving wife of over 63 years, Esther Georges Lucas, who died December 30, 2021. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Canon McMillan School District, teaching Accounting for 35 years, and serving as the Dean of attendance.

Mr. Lucas's voice was loud and boisterous, which instantly commanded your attention. He had an impeccable work ethic.  After a day or week of teaching, he would pick up extra hours or days collecting tickets for all the school's sporting events.  In addition, he always had summer jobs from making donuts, to building houses to working for his nephew's paving company.  Even after retirement, he continued to work as a driver for Bevec Printing. 

His career and teaching style impacted many lives. Former students thanked him for redirecting them down a better path of life. Mr. Lucas was often referred to  as "my favorite teacher." He was recognized anywhere he went: "Aren't you Mr. Lucas, the teacher?

Surviving are his daughters, Helene Raymond, of Allentown, Zeffie (Clinton) Carroll, of Canonsburg; his son, Steve (Stacey) Lucas, of Canonsburg; 7 grandchildren, Samantha (Connor Burns) Raymond, Emma Raymond, Lucas Carroll, Estee Carroll, Peter Lucas, Gabriel Lucas, and Anna Lucas and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Lucas; and his sister, Victoria Matsakis.
Friends will be received Wednesday, 3-8pm, at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
Trisagion will be held in the funeral home, Wednesday, at 7pm.
Additional visitation will be held in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. McMurray Road, Canonsburg, PA, 15317, Thursday, 10-11am, and service at 11am.
Burial will follow in the Oakspring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Endowment Fund, in Mr. Peter Lucas's name.
