Obituary

Merle Thomas Mathia, 76, of Canonsburg, died Monday, September 13, 2021.
He was born January 12, 1945, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Victor and Ann Cannon Mathia. 
Mr. Mathia was a member of St. Oscar Romaro Parish, and attended the St. Patrick worship site. He was a member of the S.N.P.J., in Strabane.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machinist. He loved riding his motorcycle, vacationing with his family, and was a devoted grandfather who especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.
On January 20, 1968, he married Theresa Keegan Mathia, who died December 21, 2004.
Surviving are his son, Shawn Mathia, of Canonsburg; his daughter, Kelly (Jim) Sadlek, of Canonsburg; 3 grandchildren, Kelsey (Ryan Holden), Michael, and Mary Sadlek.
Friends will be received on Friday, 3-5pm and 6-8pm,  at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home Saturday, at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11am, in St. Patrick Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, in Merle Mathia's name.
