Mary Popeck Obituary

Mary  Popeck, 101, of Canonsburg, died Friday, August 7, 2020.
She was born March 20, 1919, in Houston, a daughter of  John and Sophie Stach Bober. 
Mary was a dedicated wife and mother, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was an active and dedicated member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church, where she was a former member of the Echo Choir, Society of the Most Blessed Sacrement, and participated in the pierogi making projects up until the age of 100. She will be sorely missed by her church family. Mary was a member at the Canonsburg Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing bingo.  She bowled with the Interfaith Bowling league until age 96.
On May 26, 1946, she married George E. Popeck, who died July 20, 1985, after 39 years of marriage.  
Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Pacewicz, of Washington, Phyllis Evanoka of Canonsburg, Adela (Donald) Fisher, of Canonsburg, Natalie (Harold) Hall, of Washington; her sister, Mildred Sztukowski, of Slovan; eight grandchildren, Jason and Rebecca Pacewicz, Adam (Leigh) and Mark (Heather) Evanoka, Michael and Matthew (Michelle) Fisher, Evan Hall, Chantel (Michael) Kocher; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Cole, and Madden; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Trylko, Cecilia Navrotski; her brothers, Walter, Felix, Stanley, Theodore, Carl, and Dominick Bober; and her son-in-law, John Pacewicz.
Due to the uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public visitation and services are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Polish National Catholic Church, 173 E. College St. Canonsburg, PA, 15317; Capital Improvement Fund, in Mary Popeck's name.
