Maria Kavoulakis

Maria Kavoulakis, 90, of Mt. Lebanon, died  February 29, 2024.  
She was born March 8,1933 to Zissiou Zisi and Despina Xenakis Zisi.  Maria worked in the Chelsea School District in Boston as a teacher and then vice principal. She was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church where she taught Conversational Greek in the Greek School Program for many years.  In her retirement, Maria also worked at Visit Pittsburgh greeting visitors to the city at the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. Maria was a talented artist and painted several portraits that hung in her home and are cherished by her daughters, and she loved to read and travel.
She is survived by six daughters: Thespine (Pradeep Khosla) Kavoulakis of San Diego, CA and Mt. Lebanon, PA,  Alexandra Kavoulakis of Mt.Lebanon, Libby Kavoulakis of Mt.Lebanon,  Sophia (Tom) Tambouratzis of Mt. Lebanon, Jessica  Kavoulakis of Brooklyn, NY,  Joanne (Themis Drakos) Kavoulakis of Toronto, Canada; four Grandchildren: Nathan Khosla, Alexander Khosla, Nina Maria Khosla, and Alex Tambouratzis.  Maria always said that the greatest wealth she had accumulated in life were her daughters and that her grandchildren were her greatest joy.  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alexander Kavoulakis, brother William Zisi and sister in law Betty Zisi.
Friends will be received Wednesday, March 6 from 4-8 p.m. at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College St., Canonsburg, PA.  The Trisagion service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. 
Additional visitation will be held before the funeral Thursday, March 7 from 9-10 a.m. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 123 Gilkeson Rd., Mt. Lebanon, PA.  Funeral services will commence at 10 a.m., followed by burial in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church Library.
