John Edward Straka, 70, of McMurray, died Thursday, September 23, 2021.
He was born June 18, 1951, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Edward A. and Irene Zanakis Straka.
Mr. Straka was an active member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Canonsburg.
John went to Wichita State University, where he played football for the Wichita State Shockers.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a CPA. He was a member of the Dormont Mt. Lebanon Sportsman's Club, the Italian Men's Club, and enjoyed hunting.
On February 25, 2011, he married Carol Jean DePaoli Straka, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tara Straka (Gregory) Galano, of New York, New York; his brothers, Edward S. (Lori) Straka, of Haysville, Kansas, and Randell E. (Kathy) Straka, of Oro Valley, Arizona; step daughter, Amy (Bob) Miller, of Canonsburg; step son, James (Melanie) Paulick, of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Vivian Irene and Alexander Charles; step-grandchildren, Sophia, Jacob, Mary, Scarlett, Roman and William; niece, Deandra Kistler, and nephews, Luke and Hunter Straka.
Friends will be received Monday, from 2-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home, Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30, followed by services in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 210 N. Jefferson Avenue, Canonsburg at 11 am, with Pastor Brenda Henry, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
