James John Yurkovic, Sr. Obituary

James John Yurkovic, Sr., 69, of Canonsburg, formerly of Hazleton, died Saturday, August 28, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's.

He was born December 30, 1951, in Coaldale, a son of Joseph and Luba Sweetak Yurkovic.

Jim was a member of St. Oscar Romaro Parish, in Canonsburg. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Craig Motors, Inc., in Hazleton, for 26 years. After retiring from Craig Motors, he worked at Burger King.

When he wasn't rooting for his beloved Yankees, Redskins, and Penguins, or making everyone laugh with his sense of humor, Jim loved to golf. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Jim was a former President of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, and a member of the Hazleton Volunteer Fire Department.

On July 31, 1976, he married his loving wife of over 45 years, Mildred Craig Yurkovic, who survives. Also surviving are his son, James J. (Sarah Wernert) Yurkovic, Jr., of McMurray; his daughter, Christen (Brandon) Iskey, of Canonsburg; brother, Joseph (Pat) Yurkovic, of New Bern, North Carolina; sister, Carole (Bill) Sears, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; sister-in-law, Sandra Yurkovic, of Lansdale; three grandchildren, Wesley, James, and Mark; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Yurkovic.
