Iphigenia Mavrogianis, 96, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, August 2, 2021 .
Iphigenia was born on July 25, 1925, and was the daughter of the late, Costis and Helen (Scouloukas) Scoumis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmanuel Mavrogianis; son, Dimitrios Mavrogianis; four brothers, Pete Scoumis, Dimitrios Scoumis, Vasilio Scoumis, Russell Scoumis, three sisters, Oranis Kallas, Xanthipe "Tippy" Miller, and Marsha Scoumis.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria (George) Paxinos of Powder Springs, GA; her son C. Dean (Melissa) Mavrogianis of Moon Township, PA; three grandchildren, Kristen (Christopher) Snell, James (Heather) Paxinos, Alexa Mavrogianis; four great-grandchildren, Emmy and Amelia Snell, Elias and Lucas Paxinos; her brother, Orestes Scoumis, of Pittsburgh, and several nieces and nephews.
Iphigenia graduated from Canon-McMillan High School and attended Robert Morris Business School.She worked as a clerical associate for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, in Washington, PA until her retirement. Iphigenia enjoyed having good conversations with family and friends, completing crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and doting over her grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation Saturday, August 7, 2021, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the All Saint's Greek Orthodox Church, in McMurray, PA., with
funeral services immediately following visitation with Fr. George Athanasiou, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggest memorial contributions be made to the All Saint's Greek Orthodox Church in Iphigenia's name.
