Herman Charles “Chuck” Steeber, 71, of Canonsburg, died on April 13, 2023. He was born on March 31, 1952, a son of Charles and Seena (Mulhorn) Steeber.
On December 28, 1981, he married the love of his life Pauline Marie "Polly" (Pegg) Steeber who survives. Also surviving is his beloved son Charles Douglas “Doug” Steeber.
Chuck had quite the varied career in management throughout his life. He was the manager of two local drive-ins. Then he got his Real Estate license and went into property management. Eventually, he found his zeal for aviation. He towed banners around Three Rivers Stadium as well as other events, handled transport for Sollon Funeral home, became a commercial pilot, and moved into aviation management, eventually retiring as the Senior Vice President of Airline Operations for a major commuter airline. In retirement, he enjoyed consulting, substitute teaching, and being a Football official.
Throughout his life, he was very active in politics, serving as a Town Councilman in Strattanville, PA and a Committeeman in Peters Township, PA. He was active in many campaigns. He was a strong Conservative, but loved having thoughtful discussions with people on all ends of the political spectrum.
Chuck was a 1970 graduate of Canon McMillan High School and was a Brother of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity out of the University of Pittsburgh chapter, where he graduated in 1975. Phi Delta Theta was a passion for him that he stayed active with throughout his life. He assisted in starting a chapter at Clarion University and reestablishing a chapter at his Alma Mater, Pitt, where he served as Chapter Advisor. He was also on the House Corporation for the CMU chapter. Chuck was very proud to see his son follow in his footsteps and become a Pitt Phi Delt as well.
Above all, Chuck loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband and father. He demonstrated his love and support for his family in everything he did. He enjoyed taking vacations, day-long outings, and just talking with his wife and son for hours. The love and laughter that he provided his family and friends is something that will forever be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
