Emma Sabina Hook, 104 of Canonsburg, formerly of West Newton, died peacefully Wednesday March 22, 2023, in her daughter Sheryl's home.
She was born on August 26, 1918 in Collinsburg, a daughter of the late Matilda Sustar Krizner Kimberly and Frank Krizner.
She graduated from West Newton High School in 1936. During World War II she worked as a shell inspector at the US Steel National Tube Works in McKeesport and was a cook at Sweeney's restaurant in Belle Vernon for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially all of her grandchildren.
In her past time she belonged to the Canonsburg Senior Citizen Center, enjoyed bowling, reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching the Steelers.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Paul Hook Sr. who died in 1981; son Paul Hook Jr.;great grandson Andrew Paul Kepple; brother Frank Krizner and two sisters, Sylvia Pollock and Matilda Korber.
Surviving are her children; Karen (Terrance) Peto, Sheryl (Lou) Gadani whom she lived with for 25 years, Charles Hook; daughter in law Xinia Hook; grandchildren Patrick (Kellie) Peto, Natalie (Kevin) Kepple, Amanda (Adam) McMinn, Rachel (Jason) Ramaley, Joseph (Magaly) Gadani, Michael (Brieanna) Gadani, Joshua (Victoria Maksin) Hook; step granddaughter Kathleen (Kareem) Coles; great grandchildren Aleya and Shayna McMinn, Audrey, Sadie, Catherine and Elizabeth Kepple, Abagail and Alex Ramaley, Gabriela, Alessandra, Giovani, Dante and Emilia Gadani, Audriana Hook ; step great-grandchildren, Saraiah, Kareem Jr. Nalah, Naija Coles; step great-great grandchild Naomi; half brother Richard Kimberly; and many nieces and nephews.
Emma leaves a lasting legacy of being a great wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. Arrangements are entrusted to Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
A private celebration of Emma's life was held April 1, 2023 at the West Newton Presbyterian Church.
