Despina Loutsion Mihellis, 103, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Warren, Ohio.
She was born March 22, 1919, in the village of Koskinou, Rhodes Greece, the daughter of Triantafilos and Vasiliki Pihiou Loutsion.
Mrs. Mihellis was a long time member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg, where she was involved in the Philoptochos and Pan Rhodian Society.
On November 16, 1947, she married the love of her life, John Mihellis, who died June 29, 1978.
Despina was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and always put her family first. She loved to cook and bake, and was famous for her Koulourakia, which she baked and distributed weekly to her family and friends. She worked hard in the kitchen at the original All Saints Church, on Blaine Ave. in Canonsburg, alongside her dearest friends.
Surviving are daughter, Maria (Michael) Ashiolas, of Warren Ohio; her son, Frank (Gloria) Mihellis, of New Cumberland, West Virginia; daughter, Lea (Conrad) Tselepis, of McMurray; grandchildren, Stacy (Spiro) Giannoutsos, Tina (John) Mirkos, Jonathan (Amy) Mihellis, and Christopher Shawn (Heather) Mihellis, and Leeza (George) Tselepis Koutras; great-grandchildren, Yianni and Michael Giannoutsos, Maria and Yianni Mirkos, Theo Mihellis, Andreas and Alekos Mihellis; and many nieces and nephews locally and in Greece.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Despina was preceded in death by her siblings, Archon George T. (Kula) Loutsion, Sr., Victoria (George) Bardos, Athena (George) Chartofillis, Kostantina (George) Mahramas, Emilia Loutsion, and Steve (Frances) Loutsion.
Friends will be received Tuesday, 10-Noon, in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg, PA, 15317.
Services will be held Tuesday, in the church, at noon, with Father George Athanasiou, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
