Charles Jude Zullo, 76, of Jacksonville, Florida., formerly of Canonsburg, PA., died Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He was born March 25, 1947, in Washington, PA., a son of James A. Sr. and Mary Zullo.
Mr. Zullo proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. Prior to his retirement, he worked as technical aircraft maintenance technician.
In recognition of his outstanding service to his country, Mr. Zullo was presented with the following military awards and ribbons: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal (+5 Oak Leaf Clusters), Small Arms Expert Rifle Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Military Graduate Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Over Seas Long Tour Service Medal, Air Force Over Seas Short Tour Service Medal (+1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Training Ribbon, VietNam Service Medal (+1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon (+4 Oak Leaf Cluster), Republic of VietNam Gallantry Cross, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
On May 21, 1974, he married his wife, Azela T. "Sally" Tevez Zullo, who died November 23, 2011.
Mr. Zullo was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as an Honor Guard in the VFW Post 191, in Canonsburg.
Surviving are his son, Valiant Maurice Zullo, Maine, daughters Chantal (Jason) Marudas, Minnesota, Charlotte (Henry Reitzel) Zullo, Florida, step-daughters, Kimberly (Robert) Porter, Florida, Michelle (Robert) Bozarth, S. Dakota; beloved grandchildren, Chase, Callie, Karin, and Chastity; and several great grandchildren; brothers, James Jr (Mary Ann) Zullo, Strabane, Donald Zullo, Texas, Anthony (Mary Jo) Zullo, Washington, sisters Bernadette Goodemote Nevada, Mary Ann Zullo, Florida, and brother in law, Jeffrey Ulanich, Washington; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Zullo was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Keire Newcomb-Miller, brother John Zullo, sister Helen Ulanich, brother in law, Gail Goodemote, and several nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 28, 2023, 2-8pm, at Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.
Services will be held in the funeral home, Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11am, followed by burial in Forest Lawn Gardens, with full military rites accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
