Amelia Pankas Obituary

Amelia Jean (Regas) Pankas , 87, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

She was born on September 1, 1934, on Smith Street in Canonsburg.  She was the daughter of the late Forrest (Foti) and Sara (Stavroula) Johns Regas.  Although she was an only child her parents also raised, two girls as well; Joan (Nikas) Shearer and Rena (Nikas) Hunter.

Amelia was a faithful member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church where she was the choir director and member for over 60 years.  Amelia was a proud member of the Daughters of Penelope, Philoptochos, Bowling League and an avid supporter of the Youth Group.

Amelia was known to all for her kindness, generosity, and her extreme love for her faith,  family, neighbors and friends.  She attended Muse Elementary School, where she played "mush ball",  and graduated from Cecil High School in 1952. Amelia was proud of the jobs that she held with, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Steve Cancilla, National Metals, and later for Sarris Candies for over 20 years.  The job that satisfied her the most was being a mom and grandmother.  She loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Amelia was dedicated to her family and always put them first. She often reached out via phone and/or mail to be sure that her friends were doing well.  She loved to travel, whether it was going on a cruise, a cross country trip, trips to New York, AHEPA conventions, family vacations and sporting events.

On October 2, 1955, she married the love of her life, George Pankas, who recently passed away on August 22, 2021.

Surviving are her daughters Stephanie Zeremenko of Canonsburg;  Betsy (Gary) Sideris of Astoria, NY; and her five grandchildren: Amalea Sideris, Anthony Sideris, Alexa Zeremenko, Giorgiana Zeremenko, and James Zeremenko; her Godson, Demetrios (Kathy) Contis ; her loving sisters-in-law,  Stella “Beba” (George) Velisaris,  Carole Pankas, Lynda Pankas   and several nieces and nephews that she adored.
