Helen J. Opalka, 84, of Canonsburg, formerly of Houston, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 26, 1933 in Washington, a daughter of Lester and Cleo Caldwell McAdams.
Helen proudly served her country in the United States Navy during the Korean War Conflict. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a machine operator for Griff Box Factory. Since 1984, Helen was very active in the Women's Auxiliary at Canonsburg General Hospital. She was on the Patient Safety Committee, LifeLine Committee and the various fund raising committees.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Cauley, of Charleston, South Carolina; sister, Freda Andreone, of Washington, three grandchildren, Erin Cauley, Warren Bell, Jr., and Bobby Cauley, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Opalka, her son, Warren Bell, her brother, Lester McAdams, Jr., and her sister Audrey Watt.
Friends will be received Friday, 4-7 pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10 am in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
