Constance "Connie" J. Ghrist, of Muse, passed on February 27, 2017. She was born September 2, 1926, in Walkertown, the eldest daughter of Helen Fisher and William E. Crawford.

Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She married James Ghrist, on October 16, 1948, and enjoyed a long and affectionate marriage. She spent most of her career as a psychiatric technician at Mayview State Hospital, the psychiatric institution where she advocated for her patients. Connie was a leader in her community, the organizer of her bowling league. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was also an avid (and usually unbeatable) Scrabble player and Pirates fan. She was a devoted member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church. Connie’s strength was matched only by her sense of humor.

She leaves behind her children, Karen Niesslein, James (Carole) Ghrist, Kathy Ghrist, and William (Julie) Ghrist; grandchildren Jennifer Niesslein, Erin Niesslein, Kristin Espey, Kelli Ratliff, Adam Ghrist, Jordan Ghrist, Jill Niesslein, William Ghrist, and Charlotte Ghrist; eight great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; many devoted and loving friends, as well as her surviving siblings Wallace Crawford, Audrey Sapp, and Terry Crawford.

In heaven, she joins her beloved husband, James Ghrist, her parents, and siblings William Crawford, Gloria Soma, and Melvin Crawford.

Visitation will be held Friday, from 3 to 6 pm, in the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317, J. David Sollon, Supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, Director, 724-746-1000. Services will be held Saturday at 10 am, in the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church.
