Chris N. Pihiou, 100, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, March 11, 2018.
He was born December 27, 1917, in Canonsburg, a son of Nick and Dorthea Kirizis Pihiou.
Mr. Pihiou was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, where he was a member of Ahepa, Chapter 156. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during WWII, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 191, and the American Legion.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at Fort Pitt Bridge Works.
On June 21, 1947, he married his wife of over 70 years, Mary Ellen Fritz Pihiou, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Christina J. Pihiou, of Canonsburg, daughter in law, Rose, of New Castle; brother, George Pihiou, and his wife Sylvia, of Canonsburg; sisters, Freda Krithis, of Arizona, Marsha Gregorakis, of Alliquippa; grandchildren, Tammy (James) Bowen, Cliff (Loyra) Hulquist; 3 great-grandchildren, Landyn, Leif, and Liam; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas C. Pihiou; brothers, Bill, Sam Tony and Anthony Pihiou; and his sister, Stella Kokalis.
Friends will be received Tuesday, 4-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, J. David Sollon, director, 724-746-1000. Trisagion service will be held in the funeral home, Tuesday at 7pm. Additional visitation will be held in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. McMurray Road, Canonsburg, Pa, 15317, Wednesday, 10-11am. Services will be held at 11am, with Fr. George L. Livanos, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, with full military rites.
