LaVerne Mals, 82, of Strabane, died Monday, November 28, 2016.

She was born November 4, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Hall Hampson.

Prior to her retirement, LaVerne worked at Ernie's Esquire as a waitress and hostess.

She was catholic.

LaVerne was member of the S.N.P.J, and enjoyed Polka, Waltzes, and Oberek dancing, where she met her husband, Joseph Mals, who survives.

LaVerne was a devoted wife and dedicated mother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons, Charles (Tara) Mals, of Boynton Beach, Florida, Richard Mals, of Strabane; daughter, Linda (Jim) Shephard, of Allentown; brother, Ron (Sandy) Hampson, of Waynesburg; sisters, Elizabeth (Robert) Hess of Washington, Peggy (Michael) Tomecsko, of Strabane; grand children, Matthew Mals, Adam, Elliott, and Mackenzie Shephard, and Taylor Mals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Edward Hampson, and her sister, Kathryn Ruth Dunn

Friends will be received Sunday, from 2-8pm at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.

Departing prayer service will be held Monday in the Sollon Funeral Home, at 11am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, at 11:30am.

Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
