Kathryn Mae Balach, 87, of Houston, formerly of Lawrence (Hill Station), passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

She was born July 21, 1929, in Canonsburg, the ninth of eleven daughters, of Paul and Helen Grec Susa.

She graduated from Cecil High School, in 1947. She resided in Lawrence most of her life, and retired from Mayview State Hospital's Housekeeping Department in 1991. She was a member of the Civic Association of Lawrence. She enjoyed cooking and trips to the casino.

On August 26, 1950, she married her husband, Edward M. Balach, with whom she shared over 30 years of marriage with, until his death, July 7, 1981.

Surviving are her son, John Balach, and his wife Sharon, of West Alexander; three daughters, Beverly Hassler, and her husband Curt, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Tina Bartnick, and her husband James, of Venice, Amy Bioni, and her husband Dennis, of Lawrence; sister, Irene Koncerak of North Braddock, Ethel Stubenbordt of Andover, Ohio, Edna Mast, of Ephrata; six grandchildren, Nicole (Brad) Carosone, James Bartnick, Lea Hassler, Jacque (Greg) Dalton, Nicholas Bioni, and Angelina Bioni; three step-grandchildren, Daniel, Robert, and Alyssa Todd; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Elysia Dalton; three step-great-grandchild, Annabelle Mudrick, Alexa and Lindiray Jolly; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Balach was preceded in death by her son, Edward M. Balach, Jr., sisters, Julie Renners, Pauline Rybacki, Margaret DeSafey, Mary O'Bryan, Ann Craig, Bertha Boone, and Helen Javornicky.

Friends will be received Thursday 2-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.

Services will be held Friday, at 11:30 am, in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville.
