James O.  Wolford, 74, of Canonsburg, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, with his family by his side.
 
He was born November 25, 1942 in Smoke Hole, West Virginia,  a son of  the late Ira and Bernice Alt Wolford.
 
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Wolford worked as a mechanic and was a partner in Wolford and Rankl Auto in Bethel Park. He served his country in the Army National Guard, and was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, a lifetime member of the NRA,  a member of the Canonsburg Sportsman's Club, and Westland Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed his family and especially loved his grandchildren.
On June 4, 1965, he married Cheryle Ball, who survives. They recently celebrated 52 year of marriage.
 
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Denise Lee Kahlbaugh, and her husband, Mark, of McDonald, and Dorinda A. Bails-Ghrist, and her husband, Bob, of Canonsburg, one brother, John R. Wolford of Washington, two sisters, Martha L. Payne of Winchester, VA, and Esther S. Hafner of Kearneysville, WV., four grandchildren, Mark Kahlbaugh, Jr., Kristen (Chris Alderson) Kahlbaugh, Melissa Bails, and Brianna Ghrist.
 
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Vincent Wolford, who died in infancy, one brother, Paul A. Wolford, four sisters, Ruby H. Phillips, Naomi F. Pearson, Ruth E. Anderson, and Mary L. Wolford.
 
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 15, 2017,  from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000, where services will be held at 8 pm.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in James's name.
