Gerard "Pappy" Ashton, Jr., 63, of Washington, died Saturday, July 30, 2016.

He was born July 18, 1953, in Canonsburg, a son of Gerard and Ida Pitcock Ashton.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for Abex Corporation.

He was Catholic, and was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, post 191.

Surviving are his sisters, Sandra Salerno, and her husband Leonard, of Washington, Kathleen Knox, of Washington, Ida Haught, and her husband William, of Houston, Diane Frantz, and her husband Matthew, of Washington; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ashton was was preceded in death by his nephew, Bernard "B.J." Diesel, and his sister, Bernadette Ashton.

Friends will be received Monday 4-8pm at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.
