Elizabeth "Betty" Uchal, 89, of Canonsburg, died Monday, May 22, 2017, in her home.

She was born August 4, 1927, in Langeloth, a daughter of Stephen and Julia Lukach Babyak.

Betty was an active member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg. She volunteered countless hours with church activities and making nut roll and pierogies.

For over 40 years, she worked at Simmons Farm Market.

On February 5, 1949, she married John "Pucky" Uchal, who died July 10, 1984.

Surviving are her daughter, Debra Murdock, and her husband, Dale, of Canonsburg; sons, Gary Uchal, of Washington, Vincent Uchal, and his wife Linda, of Highland Village, Texas, Ronald Uchal, of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Brandon (Tara) Murdock, Erin (Justin) Murdock, John Uchal, Kathleen Uchal; brother, Joseph Babyak, and his wife Zedora, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Stephen Babyak, John Bobyak; sisters, Jane Benigno, Ann Peterson, Helen Cipranic, and Julie Yaksic.

Friends will be received Friday from 2-5 and 6-8pm, at the Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, 724-746-1000.

Departing prayers will be held in the funeral home, Saturday, at 9am, followed by Divine Liturgy in St. Michael's Byzantine Church, at 9:30am, with Father Joseph Raptosh, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Michael's Church, 166 E. College St., Canonsburg, PA, 15317; or St. Jude Children's research hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105, in Betty's name.
